At Giant Steps, we are passionate about producing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that reflects the irreplicable and irreplaceable personalities of some of the most sought-after vineyards across the Yarra Valley. From complex and perfumed, to confident and structured, our wines reveal the distinctive characteristics of their varieties, vineyards and vintages.

Our Story

Giant Steps was founded in 1997 by wine industry pioneer Phil Sexton who arrived in the Yarra Valley to find the ideal site to produce Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Turns out, there was more than one. Today, Giant Steps is led by Head of Winemaking and Viticulture, Melanie Chester, who works with six big personality vineyard sites in the Valley (and one in Tasmania) to produce wines that showcase the region’s unique expression.

The Wines

Giant Steps wines uniquely express the personalities of the Yarra Valley across our vineyard sites. Elegant, balanced, and textural, our Single Vineyard Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs are crafted with purity and finesse to reflect their cool-climate origins. Our vineyards are always changing, which means our wines are constantly evolving too. From Applejack and Sexton to Bastard Hill and Primavera vineyards, every year, every vintage, each wine tells an individual tale.

Our Tasting Room

Located one hour from Melbourne, our Tasting Room in Healesville gives you the chance to experience the Giant Steps story. Pop in for a glass or join us for a deep dive into our region, varieties and styles through our Single Vineyard experiences.
